I had the pleasure of getting to know this
Swedish gentleman when I was looking for
ham radio operators who own US National
Radio's NCX-1000, one of the rarest
kinds of transceivers that were manufactured
by NRC around the beginning of 1980's.
Through exchanging technical information
concerning our NCX-1000's, he and I became
real good friends even though Sweden
and Japan are faraway from each other. Indeed,
just as Peter Laur says that making friends
through the Internet is quite easy,
especially among the people who have the
same kind of fond hobbies!!!
Mr. Peter Laur, SM5HUA, lives in Upsala,
a town in Sweden. He is 44 years old, and
his beautiful wife is also a ham radio operator
SM5XHC. Both of them are highly intelligent
people, very fond of ham radio!
He loves vintage rigs, and in fact he says
he has had all the famous rigs like Collins,
Signal-One, etc, but sold all of them, and
now he enjoys going on the air with his rare
quality Transmitter Harvey 80-T, and National
Radio HRO Sr Receiver. His
antenna is a 184m (560ft) LW pointing to
USA.
He lives in the woods, and can build up any
antenna that he intends to, and is regularly
communicating with W1 and
other gents throughout the world on 20 m
band.
